Hi,

I have read a ton of posts about a leaking sunroof. Clean the drains is the first bit advice usually given. I can not find any drain holes or anything that looks like it could even resemble a drain opening. the water will pool at the front corners but I swear there are no drain openings. Is this possible? Or any advice on finding said openings?

Thanks for any help.

Paul

the drains on a civic sunroof are located in the corners, all four have a metal tube that outlets water into a plastic tube. they are not very visible with the moonroof assembly together, and the MINIMAL amount to work to expose them involves removing the glass from the frame. My suggestion is as follows: pull your headliner, inspect the drain tubes for clogging before actually putting hands on them, if there are no apparent clogs, you can pour some water into the drain tray to see if it flows out or not, if not then you need to locate the ends of the drain hoses and check them for clogs ( the fronts come out inside the fenders, behind the plastic fenderwell lining i believe, and the rears are located behind your trunk interior garnish and drain out behind the sides of your rear bumper). if after all that you still get no drainage, you have two options. 1: check the drain tube routing ( a pain in the ***) to check for pinched hoses. 2: call a shaman because your car is possessed, is tired of you referring to it as "she" and has decided to teach you a lesson about women and is retaining water. GOOD LUCK!

Drain tubes run down inside the pillars.

Thanks for responses. UPDATE. I have searched the internet some more and now believe that this is an after market "Skymate" (out of business) sunroof. I think it relies only on the gasket / weatherstripping to keep out water. Any thoughts?

Thanks again.

I was just going to point that out... No such thing as an LX with a sunroof, especially a manual one. You are pretty much correct on that, aftermarket roofs are terrible. Some dealers would install them to upcharge the car... Kind of like when you see a Civic of this vintage with leather interior.
