hey guys, Im considering starting an all-motor sohc build-up but just wondering which civic platform is the best to start with. I know gearing and weight are of big issues. And with the d16a6 i considered the swap of a1 pistons and y8 gaskets and intake mani's etc. Im curious as to what the lot of you guys would go for... im leaning towards a rex, but buddies are telling me to go for an EK with an si tranny. anyone?...

 

Rex is way lighter.

 

 

It's not a "rex". Speak properly. CRX. It's not that hard.

And the weight isn't that much different. A stock CRX is around 1800lbs. Not sure on the EK, but the EH stock is around 2000.

EH is better looking, a bit bigger, and has tons more room. Plus more options for ANYTHING.

 

damn man, I think EK's are around 2200 for the 96-98 and 2300 for the 98+ EK hatches.

you want a CRX, if not that then a 92-93 CX/VX.
then last but not least you may be able to rock a 94-95 CX/VX
if all goes wrong, you can work with an EK, just looks much better and interior material quality is better than EG, but still heavier....

go for the sohc vtec buildup! I would not mind doing one if I had to start over!
