Hi HT i have a Auto 94 accord lx i was getting a flashing oil light after driving about 20 min i had already replaced the oil pressure sender unit on the back of the block a while ago. i noticed the wire was frayed so i cut it spliced it n taped all back up the light still came on so i parked the car until i changed oil pump (water pump and oil change while i was there) and even after changing the oil pump i get a flashing oil light after about 10 min of driving and a solid oil light when stopped at a red light. Also my car sounds like it is stalling out. Actually shut off at one point. i have since parked my car to prevent further damage but im so confused i dont know what to do next. Thankz anyway

 

What does your idle speed look like? An excessively low idle speed can cause oil pressure issues because it is not turning enough RPMs to make adequate pressure. That would also explain the stalling. How many miles does the car have on it? Does it have any knocking or other noises that could be a resultof low oil pressure?

 

Not to scare you, but sounds like a worm/slipped bearing(s).
Put some heavier oil into it and see if it helps.

 

OK my idle does have some issues it does the weird bounce up and down on cold start and as for when the light comes on it drops to abt 600-800 definitely below the ( 1 ) where should it be? Also it did make a weird sound when it stalled out it sounded like a grinding sound and the motor sounded like it was getting choked.

 

replace all the oil with somethin thicker or just add some what kind do u suggest? i have 5w 30 in it right now. could it be the oil is too thin for the new oil pump to keep pressure?

It's possible you have engine damage. I would compression test to see.

 

Drain all of the oil out of it and refill with something like straight hd30, something good and thick. See if you have any change in the oil light behavior. If you do, then it is safe to bet that the bottom end is loose and there may be terminal damage down there.
