So today i installed power steering on my em1 , all parts came off a donor em1 so all are p30 , went to autozone for the correct ps belt , hooked everything up , Filled it with fluid, started the car up and started turning the wheel and its really stiff still , went to look under the car and the boot (Tire rod boot i believe) leaked everything out . is there a way to fix this with out replacing the whole rack& pinion? if not then is there any info on how to do it :/

Did you do any maintenance, tie rods inner/outer, all hoses are in good condition?

I'm wondering how in the hell did you not spot the ripped boot and not even replace it.

 

Well the boot won't be the issue its the seals at the end of the rack. Seems like you will need a reman, unless they sell a repair kit.

 

I just bought the car it was a shell did not think it was too serious ,
So that means i need a new rack?
