Default Your opinions on PPG paint.

I'm not getting any responses in the appearance/cosmetic forum(https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=324749) . Thought I'd try here.

One month ago, stupid lowlife stunnaz ripped off my rear emblem leaving a deep gash on the paint.
I took my car to a PPG repair facility to get an estimate. They said they would have to repaint the whole rear hatch/deck. The guy who ran my estimate said they only use PPG paint on all of their paint work and high end vehicles like BMW, Mercedez uses PPG paint. I asked him how it compares to factory paint. He says, since my car has clear coat, it will look even better than factory and PPG is the best kind of paint out there today.
- Is PPG paint what he said it be?
- What does PPG stand for and what is it really?
- Should I check elsewhere to find a shop that would use factory paint/process?

PPG is a major producer of auto paint. I cannot say I've ever seen it, but it is well known/used throughout the industry.
