Anybody have a good list of where the electrical grounds are on this car? I've already cleaned up quite a few in the engine bay but I know there are more grounds that should be cleaned. One reason why I know is because the oxygen sensors are very slow to go from open loop into closed loop mode and are eager to switch back into open loop mode. Typically I have found vehicles like this have this issue due to weak electrical grounds. This car definitely has a grounding issue as every ground I've cleaned up on the car was pretty corroded. Despite a new alternator, the car was only charging at 13.6v and it would drop down to battery voltage of 12.5v if AC/FAN HI, HIGHBEAMS were on.

Now, after cleaning the alternator positive terminal and all the engine bay grounds that I can think of, charging voltage is a better @ 14.1v and it sinks down to about 13.2-13.0v if I turn on the AC/FAN HI, and Highbeams. I can't even test the electrical system with the rear defrost because the rear defrost button and potentially system does not work.

 

parts store alternator remans are going to be a crapshoot .. its best to get a denso alternator

odds are the issue lies with the one you bought rather than a ground issue and alternators produce max output at 1500+ rpms
