2001 Accord A/C hissing and not cold but compressor runs. Expansion valve?
I am an ex-auto technician of 22 years for GM. I have no Honda experience but have basic systems knowledge.
I have a 2001 Honda Accord 4cyl.......The a/c was working fine when I went into work today but I have noticed a slight hissing noise for a while now. After work it doesn't cool at all. The compressor is running, so I assume it has freon. I really need to buy some 134A gages but wondered if anyone knows this answer. I am suspecting that the expansion valve is bad? If that is the case, do I have to take the evaporator completely out to replace the valve or can I access it from under the hood? Any help is appreciated.

Yeah, it sounds like the expansion valve is bad and freezing over. I've had this issue before. You will need to pull the evaporator core to change it out after having the system evacuated.
