CV joint question
I have a 93 Accord and I was wondering if a cv joint can be bad and not have a clicking noise also can it lock up making the car feel like it's jerking at 2500 and 50mph and vibrate on acceleration. I know the left side had been replaced and look at the right doesn't look like it's ever been replaced. It kind of remind minds me of a bad caliper but the calipers and brakes are good on the car
It's possible for the boot not to be torn and still be bad but it will make noises while driving. Over time, the grease inside does wear out and stop supporting the joint. We're talking about atleast 200k though.
Vibration on acceleration, based on my experience and research, is a common symptom of a cheap, low quality aftermarket axle. You can read about what I went through here: https://honda-tech.com/honda-accord-...ation-3227179/
My advice to you: If you plan on keeping the car for awhile, the only replacement axle worth buying is a Raxle. They are not cheap, but they are actually made from high quality parts. Vibration problem was immediately cured. Twelve axles from 4 other sources all vibrated under acceleration. Think about how much wasted time that was - don't do it!
