Default Ac evacuation

I replaced each ac part and put new pag oil with new o rings. Ihook to gauges loaned from autozone and a compressor from autozone to evacuate.. I hooked it all up and opened valves and there's no change in the gauges it just stayed at 0. At one point after iha it off of a while and turned back on it went down to 19 but when iwent to check in it 30 later it went back up to 0

If the gauges and pump are hooked up correctly and you have ZERO you have a open line some where.

Picture of the loaner gauge. On my gauge you have to turn the fitting on at the connector to the low side and high side to read or recharge.

I'll post one as soon as ican ihave car at friends house. The manifold set has like valves on the hose and I'm guessing its also to open or close but its aligned with hose or either flipped 90 degrees to the side like a door handle

Make sure the vacuum pump is working. Disconnect the line and see if there's suction on the port when its running. That's step 1.

There's often multiple valves on the manifold gauge set that have to be opened. Mine has two, the big ***** near the gauges themselves, and another further down each line. If the pump is running but isn't able to keep vacuum then you definitely have a leak somewhere.

Don't think you will need to replace the dryer again. Just make certain when you can get a good vacuum goings-on, to leave the vacuum pump running for a few hours at least to ensure all moisture boils out of the system.

Got the vacuum down to 29 left on for like 3hours checked next morning and it held the vacuum but went ahead and vacuumed for another 2 hours and held the vacuum. Very happy. So should it be ready for freon or is there another way to check for leaks that ishould do before? And should I do it myself or pay a shop to add it? ThNks

No you can add it yourself with one of those diy hoses. Just make sure you blip the hose before you connect the hose to the low side to purge the hose of any air.

At walmart they have a few diy hoses you can buy. Just buy one that goes with an r134a or r12 system, whichever you are using.

When you attach the hose to the cannister there will be air in the hose. You just push the button on the can for a second to get rid of that air which will push refrigerant into the hose to the tip. That's all I'm saying. Otherwise, if you connect the hose to the low side and charge the system the air inside that hose will go into your system. This isn't a huge deal but you'd rather nothing but refrigerant go inside your system.

Any auto parts store should be able to tell you how much refrigerant or freon your system needs and you can be +- 2 ounces or so.

There are a few diy's on youtube on how to diy charge. eric the car guy has a good one .. he's pretty knowledgable

The shop will use the same R134a that you buy in the cans. The end result will be exactly the same. You are in good shape since you pulled a good vacuum and you have a manifold gauge set. What year model is your car? The correct way to add freon is by weight, but you can get close by monitoring the system pressures.

Since the system has no freon at all it should still be okay to use the can with the hose right? Or should I use the manifold gauges? And some videos say to turn the ac on before putting freon so it could suck it in? Wouldn't that damage compressor since there isn't any freon in the system at all? It's an 05 mits galant it needs 20-22oz or 590-630g would a 20oz can of ac pro be could or should I use a 22 of arctic freeze ?
