rack and pinion job causing more car problems 97 lx 2.2
I had a shop replace my rack and pinion including the tie rods as a whole unit and I have had nothing but problems since. Such as power steering fluid kept leaking and they replaced the pressure hoae, then there was this little clip that needed replacing and they continue to tell me that none of those parts had anything to do with the job. Neither part I paid for even though they claimed I should pay...they did not give me a receipt. Now my motor mounts need replacing or are very loose. It took them 3 days to replace the rack and the mechanic kept referencing the computer the whole time that I was sitting there when it was being taken out the first time. Is there any way I can sue them because my poor little baby keeps getting sick now and she was fine before this. Oh and also my ball joints went bad after the rack job too. I had another shop replace the ball joints. All of this happened in less than a months time. This motor mount issue happened and it will be two months since the rack job on May 16. I do not have more money or time to waste with these crazy shop mechanics. Please help thanks.

Sue, no you are not going to win that one.
You say the "new" rack and old hose were leaking after the work and they have replaced those....as far as I can tell with no added cost.
Some "clip" was also replaced.
Ball joints wear out. You never stated how old they were when replaced. Mounts go bad as well...rubber will only last so long.
You have an 18 year old car....things are going to wear out.
I'm not saying there is anything wrong with an 18 year old car or anything wrong with a 5th gen Accord...IMHO the 5th gen's are a rock solid car. If you take care of engine and trans maint items the darn things will run a REALLY long time. Wear items, well they wear.

After replacing the rack you have to have an alignment done which uses a computer. The best thing to do is not to go there anymore if you dont like their service.
Normally replacing the rack requires pulling old parts apart and when you do you will find things that need to be replaced anyhow.

If your "baby was fine before this "why did you bother replacing a power steering rack in the first place? Was it leaking so bad that it was in dire need of replacing?
The things you mentioned that failed probably needed to be disturbed in order to access a power steering rack, and in that process most likely ended their life span.
If you don't want to remain ignorant on this subject learn how things work on cars, and you feel as if you're being ripped off.
