What is the highest recorded Horsepower on D16 stock sleeves?
Just wondering if any one knows or has prof of the stock sleeve d16 record I was told I might have it or be very close to it I am up here in Colorado too at 5280+ ft altitude
Just curious why it even matters? Anyone can make a pull or two and have something survive. It is just a number after all.
I know its just a number just wanted to know the car has servived 10+ passes and a few dyno days so far just wondering cuz everyone been saying this and that

I know this thread is a touch old but I'm really interested in knowing more details about your D16Y8 build. You said it had stock sleeves but where you using a block guard in it? I built a D18Y8 that also had about the same compression CP Pistons, Eagle H-beam rods, ARP head studs, Cometic head gasket, P28 Hondata s300, etc. It was boosted to 20 psi. I tried to street tune it myself on 91 octane but it only lasted a couple months before the head gasket started leaking and then I discovered that most of my pistons had cracked top and 2nd rings and the ring lands broke too. I'm 100% positive that it was due to detonation. I should have tuned it with a knock detection device or a det-can. You live and learn right.
I didn't have any block guard and it was on stock sleeves. I drove it hard daily and took it to the track a couple times too. Anyways, I want to try and build another one but just wanted to know if you had a block guard in yours? Is it still holding up or did something finally break? Regardless, 612 WHP is damn impressive

This will probably be locked but its ALL about turbo size and fuel. Of course youll need a very good tuner too.
I could really do more like 700 to the tyre here with a 6870 a big top mount good cam and race gas.All that of stock sleeves. Will it be funny to drive tho? Will it last?
Record setups never last what ever record is that.
Nope.
Get a CSS block cnc blockguard treatment get a 55 lbs turbo and youll have a very fast and a car that very fun to drive.
The more you go above the x3 the NA power, the faster the car starts to loose its "funness". A GT2871, GTX2867g2, G25-550 , STC Hunter, td05-(billet)20g, K04-064 and many many more are VERY good on a D16.

It did not have a block guard it did last for a cupple years engine wise just broke axles at the track soon after this post it was only a dedicated track car, and last year I was no longer the driver I had let my lady be the driver while I drove into an evo, only thing I had issues with is it lifted the head a couple of times but put new studs and hg in it and it was fine again it is on a very good tune on pump e85 and still lives to this day all I have done scense is locked vtec. We will see if it goes another year for 2020 it is still a fun car to drive just not on the streets cuz itll get impounded quick but just got to find a set up and stick with it and put a good fuel that's able to resist knock well and drive the **** out of it if it brakes it brakes fix it and build a stronger combo

Very nice! I haven't dynoed mine yet but, I'm estimating around the 400 range on stock sleeves, no guard, 76mm bore. For the record, the highest around that time was a D16 built by Speedfactory; 689whp stock sleeves 75.5mm bore. They hold the record now for highest HP single cam as well @ 700+ whp.
Edit: 717whp sleeved D16Z6 . The link at the bottom for additional pics does not work anymore.
