Engine stuttering on acceleration, only when warm, possible fuel issues?
Hello,
I have been having a very annoying and hard to diagnose issue with my 1994 LS, I lose power and the engine stutters horribly when accelerating. This issue started very suddenly, I was at a stop light and when I accelerated away all of a sudden my engine starts shuddering and losing power, its very similar to when you are running out of gas. The odd thing is it only does this when the car is warmed up, if the accelerator is more than about 25% depressed, or if I am below 2500 RPM. I have been searching and doing some reasearch, posting is usually my last resort. Some things I have tried:
From the list of symptoms I would guess it has to do with the fuel system, possibly close to the engine. It really feels like it isn't getting enough fuel at the higher RPM's or if it is warm. Any and all advice greatly appreciated, thanks.

- Cleaned the IACV & FITV & throttle body
- Checked the TPS
- Checked for vacuum leaks
- Performed a compression test
- Bled the cooling system of air
- Replaced the fuel filter
- Checked the spark plugs

check distribuitor cables, cap and rotor
check fuel filter
check tps calibration
Hello,
Thanks for the reply, the issue has been resolved. I am not sure what was the direct cause but in addition to the above I replaced my spark cables, cleaned the fuel injectors, and reset the ECU. She runs great now, thanks.

using a variable resistor to check the calibration of the tps would be a good route, but I've got a friend who works at a smog referee station, says with a lot of these Hondas it's hard to run the ASM test because they like to surge a little around 25 mph, or when he does the TSI he says holding the DOHC motors at a constant rpm can be tricking with surging and what not. but with a horrible shutter is something different. have you checked the injectors with noid lights? resistance of the injectors? timing set and is it advancing like it should be? just some thoughts, hope they help. fuel pressure is always a good one, but also injector balance test, to pin point an injector if you suspect one of being more faulty than the rest, check for vacuum at the fuel pressure regulator, it should be getting full vacuum, about 20+ "Hg. Good luck to ya!
