Ecu swap for h22a
Hi,
I'm new here, but read a lot on this forum.
I have a question about Ecu.
I'm runing Honda Accord 94" european (CC7), with swaped engine from Prelude 93" h22a jdm, trany m2v5, but soon will swap u2q7 from accord type-r (h22a7) 99". I figured out that i have Ecu obd1 from honda civic d16z6. Serial number 37820-p28-g01 and chip 70-3c-pge sst. Car works fine. Vtec 5000rpm, rpm limiter 8000rpm. Should I buy and swap ecu from prelude jdm obd1 and will it give any extra power? Or I can leave my civic ecu, and it is ok? Thanks for the reply!

OK, now I know tht it was a stupid question.
I searched the web, and resolved that p28 from civic is almost the best ecu from obd1, and it can be chipped and hondata compatible. So another question, will I get any extra power or torque if I will chip my p28 on stock engine? only exhaust bigger and cold air intake with small resistance filter.

If you have a 28-pin SST chip inside your P28 ECU already... you are no longer using the stock fuel/timing mapping and have in fact custom mapping on the chip. Since you have stated that the car runs well, it would make sense that you have a H22 type map on that chip. No H22A runs well on a Z6 fuel/timing map.
The only way to know for sure that tuning will improve the performance of your engine is to get to a dyno and test the car. The tuner can tell you if improvements can be made. You might even want to install the header and exhaust that you planned to do and go ahead and get that Hondata system and then have the car tuned no matter what.
Good luck.
