Default Spindle nut question

I am preparing to replace the driver side CV half shaft so I ordered
an aftermarket axle from O'Reilly. Came w/ a nice solid spindle nut.
Ordered a spindle nut from Honda so that I can rebuild the axle I'm
replacing.

The spindle nuts are identical save for color (and thus maybe metallic
composition).

The question is: both nuts seem to lack a milled in
provision for staking them down once they are torqued to spec;
as a result, would thread locker compound be required? Otherwise,
how do you lock these nuts down once torqued????

Thanks.

The nut won't have a "provision" for staking them down being you don't know where exactly the nut will land.

You don't need thread locker. You just stake it down.

You will see where it is staked down on your car as soon as you go to pull your nuts off. The provisions are in the axle threads.

Where it was staked down on your axle nuts currently on the car didn't have provisioning either. The spot that ended up above the divot on the axle after torquing to spec is what got staked down on the nut.

Fixed^

Use a hammer and chisel.

Imagine that the screwdriver in diagram is a chisel and that you are hitting it with a hammer.
