What is neptune exactly?
There are several pieces so it can be confusing to a beginner.
Neptune Tuning Products, Neptune RTP, Demon | HA Motorsports.com
That page breaks it down pretty well.
Neptune RTP is just software that can be used to tune.
The Demon is the hardware component that needs to be installed into your ECU and the tune can be programmed onto it. It also has the capability to do several other amazing things like datalogging, displaying telemetry on a screen, boost by gear etc.
Each Neptune RTP software license is tied to a daemon unit, if you purchase each separately there are ways to get them tied together (there are details for that in the above link).
***You only have to buy the Neptune RTP software license if you want to start tuning your car by yourself with a Laptop computer.
***If you have a local tuner who has a Neptune dealer license, they can use that license to tune your car and burn that tune onto a standard SST 27SF512 chip.
If you're interested in getting your car tuned on Neptune, you WILL at least need the following items:
1. A chippable OBD1 ECU, there's a list here: http://www.hrtuning.com/pages/category/compatibility
2. That ECU will need to be chipped and socketed, there's a link for that here (just follow the socketing instructions): http://www.hamotorsports.com/demon-u...tructions.html
3. Your ECU is now prepped and where you go from here is up to you. You can either get a demon unit for that socket or just have your tuner burn a SST chip and put it in that socket.
Hope this helps, let me know if you need clarification on something.
