Default 2.3 starting issue

Hi everyone,

I have a 1999 accord with a 2.3 vtec with a little over 224000 miles on it. I've owned the car for about 5 months now and once in a while when I go to start it, it just turns over without firing. If I wait a minute or two, it starts right up. Also this only seems to happen when the motor is hot. Any suggestions as to what could be going on?

Thanks

I have a 91 accord that had a similar issue. If car will not start when the outside temperature is hot and then starts later in the day or evening when it's cooler,, it could be that your main relay board is cracked. If so, the crack will expands when it's hot outside (wont start) and then shrinks back when it cools down.
Honda dealers normally have a large quantity of this part available as it is a known issue.
On my 91, the part is in the dash n easy to change once you get to it. Years ago, the part was around $60 at the dealer.
Don't let a mechanic tell you it's your fuel pump. Fuel pumps normally don't go out on a honda. My mechanic, who worked as mechanic at a honda dealership for over 10 years, said he only changed 2 fuel pumps during those 10+ years.
