Default 1997 Honda Accord Driveshaft Install, Help Please

Hey guys, I am trying to install the passenger side driveshaft on my 1997 Honda Accord. The engine is an F22B2. I have read up on the install and put new clips on, but I just can't get it in. Here is a picture of what the transmission mount looks like. Am I missing something simple here?

Thanks in advance.

make sure you're aiming straight. and keep applying force. It's frustrating but that's the method for it to go in, assuming you did get the right axle btw?

Yeah, I'm just putting the old axles back in. Could there be a parking mechanism, or something that won't push back? Say if the shift cable isn't in neutral, etc.? My concern is the brass "pins" in the middle of the picture there.

Thanks a lot for the quick replies. I thought I was doing it right, but wanted to make sure. I'll take a deep breath, and try again .

Verify the open part of the circlip is in the 12 O'clock position when installing the axles.
If it is in the 6 O'clock position the end of the circlip can hang up or jam on the differential gear.

Slide the axle in and use a slide hammer action to get it fully seated. The inner joint will allow a bit of play, pull out a bit and then ram the inner cup home.

On a side note, make sure the part is correct.

On both my Accord and my wifes Hyundai, I was given the right box/part number but the actual part was incorrect. I would verify using a caliper or at least eyeing it to make sure the axle is the same diameter. It took me quite some time to get mine is as well, but listen to Mike and you'll get it in there with no problem. I didn't need any sort of hammer or anything with either axle, just took multiple attempts and trying to make sure you were inserting it when it we perfectly level with the tranny.
