Default custom audio questions

So I was wondering if anyone has done a custom dash for a removable tablet or even a tablet installation instead of running a android platform double din, and what android double din would you recommend oppose to a tablet? I have a 97 gsr id like to hook up all A/V through a tablet to eliminate the stereo head unit, of course if there is a double din that performs as well I would just do that.

Its a toss up because it can get expensive, on the audio side that is. Because most want good audio quality coming out of there speakers and an android tablet just won't cut it unless you add equalizer and an amp to power all 4 speakers. Not to mention more 7 inch tablets are a bit too long when having it sit in portrait which means you'll hae to gut the tablet and create your own custom front bezel and something to keep everything intact or else it will break to ***** when your ride hits bumps and dodging. So time and money is a factor on how fast you want to get it in your car.

There are double din full android systems that have caught my eye, one in particular. But the problem with it is the glare, runs smooth, on OS 4.4 I believe.

Found it, here you go.

Pioneer has an android model, however, according to android central, owners have reported it doesn't play well if running lollipop on your device. With that being said, I would go with a double din model but without android or iOS until the bugs are sorted. As stated earlier, it will be tricky to modify your install for a tablet to work flawlessly. It would be nice if the audio industry would come up with a way to have a chassis that can accept a tablet and work as an audio device for the car.
