Japanese Take-Out Engines
Anyone have any experience or knowledge of these Japanese Honda take-out engines? There's a company (don't know the name right now) out in California that imports these engines and sales 'em. Our local Honda shop deals with this company and they had just put one of these in our 1998 4-dr. Accord EX, which apparently has 59K miles on it. There's more work to be done to the car (rebuilt tranny, new Honda clutch assemble), so it'll be next week till we get the car back and feel how it drives.
From my experience, they're pretty good. Just make sure to replace all the gaskets/seals on them. If they compression test them then that's good too.
I ordered a F23a complete engine from a company last year. It was in very good condition and very cheap too.

I would think that they would do a compression test. Also, my Honda shop tends to use synthetic blend oil, I'm going to request that they use full synthetic from now on.
