I tried to search. I really did. (I couldnt look past page 17)

Im trying to find a Timing belt replacement for my fathers 2003 2.4 Accord, and the FAQ just tells me it couldnt find any results. (even for the word "timing") I tried this on my company pc with two browsers and my phone.

Could someone post a link if it exists on the FAQ?

The 4 cylinder has a timing chain, it doesn't need to be replaced under normal conditions.

Only if the timing chain stretched, etc.

 

Seriously? That is great news then. I was starting to get worries about mileage, I only see the car to change the oil for him. I don't even know what the mileage is.

Just make sure his car is never low on oil, as that can affect the timing/cam chain tensioner; which may lead to a stretched chain or worse.

There still is a drive belt (aka serpentine belt) that should be changed:

- around 7 years or 105,000 miles; whichever come first
- or if there is damage to the belt
- or the auto-tensioner gauge shows the belt tension out of range.

 

Go to a dealer's website and see if they have coupons for work.

$550 for a timing chain replacement and water pump and labor, steal!

 

I recently purchased a 2007 accord 2.4liter and the seller told me the timing belt had just been serviced.I looked at the dealer receipt and it was a bill for a serpentine belt,water pump and antifreeze totaling close to $500!

That is for a timing belt, the OP's car had a timing chain which doesn't need to be replaced under normal conditions. Your posts are off topic and not relevant to the OP.

If the timing chain needed replacement such as due to a stretched chain, the costs will usually run much higher than $399 or $550.
