Default Just got some new suspension

Hey guys,

I just got the koni/gc setup for my 92 and had some questions about the install. I found a few sites and posts that covered this but they're so old that the pictures seem to be missing, the design has changed or information was missing.

Basically my current setup is shot.. it's 10+ years old, several curbs have been hit, rear dampers are squeaking, no bumpstops (I think from previous install, p.s. i didn't install it), disintegrated rubber spring seats, no dustcovers... blah blah blah.. it needed an overhaul.

At the suggestion of posts that I found I ordered all new parts from Honda; new bumpstops, new rubber bushings that sit in top hat and new dust covers.

My first question is in what position do the bumpstops and dust cover go when installing on the shock?

From what I can tell from first to last it's:
-coil sleeve
-white plastic split washer from koni
-bumpstop cut in half and drilled out to fit over the weld in the middle of the rod pushed down all the way to the plastic washer
-metal washer (above weld in the middle of the rod)
-dust cover cut in half and drilled out to fit over thicker rod
-2nd metal washer
-spring
-spring seat/isolater
-lower spring bushing
-coller
-top hat
-upper spring bushing
-dishwasher
-nut

My second question is about the spring seat/isolater. GC came with one for each spring but I read that OEM is recommended. After looking at the OEM one when I got the parts, it seems that the seat is a bit too wide for the spring to sit in there consistently possibly causing uneven wear whereas the GC seat has a lip for the spring to sit in comfortably without room for movement.

Looking at both it looks as if the GC seat could sit right inside the oem although you would lose about 1/4" due to the extra thickness of the GC seat. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

From what I remember doing my kyb adjustables and neuspeed sports, Granted it was 3 years ago, I literally went- kyb strut with neuspeed spring over it and new top hat/pillow mounts whatever u call em from tire rack. Then secured it down with the washer and top nut. No dust boots. No bump stops. Prolly not a great idea but where those go is self-explanatory. Bump stops inside dust boots.

Or dude just take it all to a shop and pay them $50 to put the coilovers together for you

I just left out the dust covers and put in the bumpstops. Took about 4 hours to get them all in. Rides great now

Any quick advice on adjusting the dampers? For now I just set all 4 to the same stiffness that I liked while driving down some bumpy roads.

Also, Im still getting a squeak from my left rear area. I thought it was the previous shock but it still does it with the new shocks. Any thoughts?
