Saturday afternoon project...Inner fender well respray
Not sure if this really goes in the ITR specific forum but oh well...
So I'm not really sure why this bothered me so much but this was one of the first things I noticed when I saw heR. After doing some research online I saw that someone on an RX-7 forum had good luck using the Duplicolor bedliner/inner fender vinyl coating. All in all this project didn't take much more than 2 hours which isn't bad for a hack like me. I'm pretty happy with the result so anyone contemplating respraying their inner fenders should check this out. I will see how this holds up over the summer and will probably touch up a few spots but it is definitely 100% better than before... Next up will be the front..
Some of the products... Ended up using a drill and wire wheel to clean and strip the wells as best I could.
Re: Saturday afternoon project...Inner fender well respray
Looks great but one thing I would be worried about with bedliner material is the fact that it's rubberized spray.
This worries me because it can actually trap water between it and the inner fender, causing a moisture buildup, which can cause rust.
What I'm doing with my si is using POR15, which turns into an almost porcelain material and completely blocks water from getting to the metal. Plus its insanely durable when dried and will not flake off from rock chips.
