Default '93 Civic DX Hatch rust

Hey Honda Tech,

So I recently bought a 1993 Civic Hatch and discovered some rust on it recently. Is there anyway I can stop it from spreading? If not what should I do to repair the rust (I do not know how to weld, I was thinking on the wheel well I could just cut out the rust)? The rust spot in the wheel well is concerning and the rust inside the hatch I want to stop from growing.

There are rust converters that will slow the progression of the rust, but replacing metal is the only way to rid it all together. Get a wire wheel on a drill and hit it with that to see exactly how bad it is. Looks like its rusting from the inside out..

Should I do this on both my rust spots? Would it be ok if in both spots I grind off the rust and just seal it? What should I seal it with? How much should I grind off?

you could grind, but you might not be to happy with the results. I would just do a rust converter and wait till you learn more or have more time. All you would want to do is till the rust is gone, that's why I would use a wire wheel. Cutting out metal and welding in new isn't something you do your first time alone.

Cut and replace, fixmyrust.com has quarters and rocker panels.
OEM honda distributors like Majestic Honda (https://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/) have the body panels for just about any part of the car.

I'm actually in the middle of fixing all the rust in my hatch too, so you're not alone.
