shaving/cutting calipers to fit wheels
wanted to know what is the purpose of the caliper carrier bar? Ive notice many calipers don't even have this.
anyhow this is the part that is slightly hitting the back of my front wheel. cant use spacers do to the offset

found the info. you can shave and you can also just cut off the carrier bar without any issues.

"Go ahead and cut off the front bar. It's really just there for manufacturing. When the bracket is being machined, the two rails that the pads ride on are broached. The cross bar keeps the bracket from twisting into a pretzel while being broached.
The brackets without the front bar are machined differently, so they don't need the cross bar.
I used to engineer brakes, and we went through lots of projects and tons of effort to design brakes without the cross bar, and re-design the cross bar off of products that already had one. It would save a lot of weight, reduce material cost and also make the pattern layouts easier at the casting foundry."
