My 97 Honda Accord is overheating. I've pretty much replaced water System to the car. It will only overheat when I get off the freeway from driving long distances and get stuck in traffic or lights. If I put the car in N, and run the engine it cools back down. Someone told me a head gasket but I have no white smoke and I can still drive the car. I check water everyday before I drive. I usually have to top off with a little water. What else could be wrong????

 

check to make sure your fan is turning on? look on the ground for coolant leaks? check your oil? Milky color? Bleed the system since you recently changed it?

 

Yes the fans work. I even changed the fan switch on the car. The fans work but there coming on even when car is off. I have no leaks that I can see. My oil isn't milky or anything. I haven't bleed the system yet.

 

Thermostat could be an issue
