Em1 overheating (solved)
I'm having trouble with my Em1, the temperature is rising to the H, the fan isn't cutting in and the car won't start unless jump started.. The lights on the dash are dim when you turn on the ignition but what's happening now is the car is starting to cut out when driving... I changed the thermostat, alternator, checked the fuses and checked if the fan worked, all are find any help welcome please
You have a few issues that may or not be related so you need to break them down and fix them separately.
As far as the lights, have you checked the voltage output from the alternator while idling?
As far as the fan, have you looked for the diagnosis tree under the service manual?
If not, I would recommend downloading the service manual, you can find it online.

Thanks lads, got to the bottom of it, I used sealer to seal my rocker cover after doing my timing belt, the sealer stopped the earth cable from earthing! Earthed it elsewhere nw it's fine! Amazing how much different problems one earth cable can cause
Yes Sir.. them grounds (earthed for you foreign types..lol) are important.
