Default EM1 Motor Mounts

The engine in my EM1 (stock b16a2) torques quite a bit when on full power. I'm not sure if it's the stock suspension that just isn't stiff enough or if getting new motor mounts would help. They're a relatively cheap mod, and I was wondering if any of you have had any experience with upgrading motor mounts, and if So the advantages and disadvantages of going so. Also how hard are they to install?

My lower torque mounts were really jacked up when I bought my EM1. Caused a bunch of movement, a bad noise and clunking when I let off my gas (sounded like an axle but was not), and a few more noises. Put some billet ones in and all of the problems related were gone. The only issue now, which is a non-issue for me, is the vibration caused by the mounts. If you have stock mounts I recommend changing them or maybe even filling them like some guys do? I plan on buying all new motor mounts too but they arent as bad as my lower torque mounts were so I am gonna wait.

If the engine itself is moving in the bay, that has nothing to do with your suspension. Like jmo alluded to, the front torque mounts are usually the first to fail, and when they do, your engine will rock around like a SJW screaming "TRIGGERED". Inspect them for damage, and replace if necessary.

Assuming you don't have any significant power adders (and no, bolt-ons are not power adders), you don't need to upgrade them, but if you really want to, we've all heard good things about HardRace mounts.

Thanks for the input guys. No I haven't modded the car in any way that would significantly increase power. I haven't checked to see if it twists in the bay But when I give it power or let off the power I get a rather large amount of bucking.

Ding Ding Ding

either look for new mounts or look up window weld as a cheap alternative to your old ones

I had the same issue in my em1 when I first got it , those rubber mounts are very soft and will corrode and break over the years , if they're stock mounts (15) year old mounts I would choose hasport or innovative , if you don't like rattle or noise go all OEM , even torque mounts .
Af far as installing then it's like a 7/10 if you have a good amount of tools .
