'96 to '02 Accord?
I'm thinking about looking for an Accord whenever my car dies ('98 Mercury Sable wagon). I'm having some issues/problems with it. It has decent kms - 212K, but it has rust and a hole in the floor. It currently has a starting issue. So, at some point....
Although, I probably shouldn't limit myself to make, I do like Hondas and I'm not sure whether to look for an Accord or Civic. Or be open to either.
I researched Hondas a bit so maybe someone here can comment, confirm or correct me?
I think '94 to '97 Accords probably have the least amount of problems? It's better to get a 5spd/stick than auto. That is even more applicable after '97? My budget is low so I'll probably be stuck to these years anyway. If it's '98 to '02, then I think I should only consider stick, right? What do you think?
What are some of the things to really look for? The rust, ball joints, tranny/clutch, ignition switch?
Is it possible to find a decent Accord of these years, used?
I suppose the hardest part is finding one that has been maintained well and not abused? It's with any car but probably particularly true with Civics? I like having a bit extra HP with the Accord vs Civic but the Civic is probably cheaper to maintain and more used ones are out there for sale?
Well, I hope I see some replies. I hope I asked the right questions regarding Accords. If there is anything I missed or other info I should know, I appreciate any input! Thanks in advance. I haven't owned an Accord before so it would be cool if I could. The problem is my budget but I think I could make repairs here and there as long as it's nothing major - not replacing/rebuilding no auto trannys or anything.
Edit: P.S. I'm in a crappy climate - it can get cold with Winters lasting around five mths (give or take) a year - a country called Canaduh. So, unfortunately, older cars will have rust and with Hondas..... :-(
