Are you sure it's not a D16y8? Those are the 96' and up single cam vtec motor.

D16z6 is the 92-95 Civic is/ex motor.

As far as getting horsepower from it, depends on how much horsepower you are shooting for. I say Ebay turbo dat ish' and be done! Then go vroom! vroom! that car and impress the neighborhood kids.

it's stock power sucks and turbo is the best option for power gains. Do not waste money on bolt-ons. Put money in the suspension first.

I told you, Ebay turbo dat ish! Get a turbo kit for the d16z6, get some upgraded injectors, send your ECU out to get it programmed.......... that's it. Cheap way for horsepower. Don't even need to upgrade your fuel pump, it's good enough for mild boost. 8 lbs of boost is about the safe limit for stock internals.

Bam! You're done. Have fun. Now your dreams of being the next Vin Diesal is accomplished, you can now sleep easily at night without waking up with cold sweats.

OP, if you're actually interested in forced induction, ignore everything this smacktard is saying. He has zero idea what he's talking about. Feel free to check the FI section's FAQ sticky - there's a lot of good information there. For your engine's sake, though, ignore this idiot.

Dude, why you gotta say it like that?

Just say, "I believe this to be incorrect. Check out the Forced Induction FAQ sticky."

You come off extremely negative. Is it deliberate?

Nah, YOU SHUT UP! You're just jealous cuz people can go turbo on the cheap now.... and reliable too. Stop being jealous, son!

Who the hell needs 600 horsepower anyways? I'd rather have a balanced car with nice suspension/brake setup and enough horsepower without going overboard, to show my skills on the roadcourse. I'd lapped your silly azz on the road course, ya back marker. All you know what to do in a car is hold a damn stupid straight line and think you're some 'racer'. You wouldn't know what an apex is if it hits you in your smug looking face!

I'm serious OP, just do a simple turbo setup like I suggested. Best bang for your buck.

Thread closed due to low quality opinion/information on turbos and the start of a dick swinging contest.

OP you have the best suggestion of checking the FAQ in the Forced Induction section as it will give you the proper insight of what you are in for if you want to go the route of FI. You can also check the FAQ in the Naturally Aspirated (NA) section.

Do some research and decide what direction you want to go. Set a budget and go to town.

When you have actual technical question(s) during your build AFTER you've done your research, please feel free to post them up in the appropriate section.

Please don't just post some open ended opinion pole on what you should do. YOU need to decide your direction and build.

Good luck.
