2002 Accord V6 rubbing noise
Hi all! New user with a new baby, so I'm on edge about driving the little one around until I figure this out. Recently replaced the battery, alternator, and alternator belt in a 2002 Accord EX V6 AT, after the car broke down during driving. Problem #1 solved. After allowing the car to sit for about 2 weeks, I drove the car to work and detected a loud rubbing sound, like what I'd expect if a belt was grinding on the heat shield or other component. This sound was NOT evident during test drives two weeks prior immediately following the repair. I popped the hood, however, and noticed no rubbing whatsoever. This noise: a. only occurs when driving (e.g. not when engine RPMs are pushed in neutral), b. only occurs when moving forward (e.g. not in reverse), and c. increases proportionally with speed (e.g. not with AT gear shifts). I'm at a loss but with all my other life changes am on the verge of just dropping into a shop, however my DIY instinct is forcing me to give it another shot. I did remove the heat shield during the alternator removal/install, but bolted it tightly back on upon completion. Please help - thanks much!
Check make sure motor mount...is tight and not broken. I dont remember what the 3.0 setups is...as far as mounts. But I think i remember one being on the drivers side...same side as the accessories. Id pay special attention to that one
