Default smoothing your dyno graphs and tuning...

so ive been messing around with virtual dyno. certainly cool stuff. anyway, with the smoothing on 0-1 the curve is quite bumpy and i feel like im driving myself nuts trying to even it out. on smoothing around 3 its much better. the numbers are lower but i dont care, my issue is shape of the curve and where peak values are found.
for example, here is one of my last pulls. this is the same run, just the one on the left is smoothing 1 and the right smoothing 3.

what smoothing factor do you guys use to base your changes off of? when i used a real dyno i think the smoothing was always on 4 or 5.

My smoothing is usually set to 3 but i would get the motor on a dyno first and compare and make sure youre not just running in circles

I usually use 4 but I wouldn't use less than 3. If you have no smoothing on a real dyno it will look like the one on the left or worse - nature of the beast.

Read this.....this helped me alot with VD....

How to use Virtual Dyno Properly - evolutionm.net

Like I said...if done right, if its within 15whp from 1-6 I would concur that its a pretty accurate run

better yet I went ahead and reposted this entire article here on our forum

thanks guys. kyle im about to read that. i remembered what you said about the 15 hp its one of the things i check for to see if i can take the run seriously. this run is within that but barely dropping about 12hp. its a bit hard to find a dead flat and straight road near me. i found one pretty close and use it consistently so i can compare between runs. i think the tune is pretty ballpark to what it needs to be shy of cam gear changes etc.. really what i should do now is hit a regular dyno but today im replacing the water heater in my house which took a chunk of change out of my bank account.... im in no rush though, motor has been in the car since christmas i just hit 350 miles on it..

so how do you guys think a tiny bit of wheel spin would appear on the graph?
