Default [Question] CTR and ITR header downpipes exchangeable?

Hi, a shop welded my universal catalytic converter onto the flange of the header and into the catback. I even told them to use the flanges on my old test pipe. So basically my header's screwed, my car vibrates really bad and I need to do something about it, was thinking about buying a new header but I REALLY REALLY want to keep the type r header.

The header is from a 97 JDM type r. I figured that I only need to replace the 2-1 down pipe. So I searched for ITR downpipes and found one for a CTR, are they exchangeable? I know the ITR and CTR have different headers, is that talking about the down pipe or the manifold?

I believe the pre-98 type r headers are all the same. They should be interchangeable. The only thing I have found with putting a different lower downpipe on a different manifold is the fitment at the catyletic converter. I have a (complete) pre-98 type r header if you end up needing to replace the whole unit.

after 98 they're(itr) the same deal 4-1 "real" header if you will, you could get away with a ls lower section. Since they fucked your header and cat you'll be in need for a new cat or at least more welding, just get them to add a few inches to the flange of the exhaust to cat section if need be. Did you go to a chain garage or was this a friend if a friends shop?

Isn't the ls header (both upper and lower section) much narrower than the type r? And yes I'll get another cat.

It was a shop called American Automotive Services located in Lafayette, Indiana. I'm not sure if it's a chain but I was referred there by the shop I usually go to but they were booked that day. Anyways I'm never going there again.

Thank you for the information, when you say the fitment at the catalytic converter, are the collector sizes different or are the lengths different?

And of course let me ask, how much will you let the header go for if I end up needing the whole header? Shipping is to Indiana, 47906, if you can approximate the shipping.
