Default OBDII, vtec, manual into OBDI, non-vtec, auto

Hi Honda-Tech,

I have a 96 accord ex, the motor and transmission went out a few years back so I replaced the f22b1 with a vtec f23 and the transmission with a prelude SI tranny.

The 96 got t-boned and I picked up a 95 non vtec automatic. I would like to swap over the engine and transmission, or at least know what I need when the 95's engine fails.

From my reading it is not worth converting to OBDII, harder to tune/reflash/whatever.

Is my best bet to get a manual vtec OBDI edu, and swap over the engine, transmission, and engine harness or is more needed?

Thanks!
Matt

You will need a distributor from a 94/95 VTEC and the manual ECU and the wiring harness.
