Hi there, I've a Honda Civic EX 2001 5sp Manual Transmission. Two of the indicator light bulbs in the dashboard are missing (see image). I've searched the web and couldn't find any regular indicator light bulbs for this board. Any suggestions on where to buy them? Do I need to find honda original bulbs or aftermarket ones work fine? If know the size that I need to get that would be helpful.
In your other thread, I may have looked at a wrong circuit diagram. Sorry about that.
The missing bulbs can probably be found at your local auto parts store; however, you're missing the bulb sockets too. So, it may be easier to just go to the dealer to the get the missing bulbs and sockets. At the dealership, the socket should come with the bulb. For your year, looks like there are two different gauge assemblies. You might want to bring that circuit board in to the dealer to make sure on the sockets and bulbs.
Thank you again for your quick reply. I didn't realize that those bulbs can come without a socket! Aftermarket bulbs won't burn or damage the circuit board? Do you have an idea how to locate the part number for the bulb and the socket? I didn't notice any part number on the circuit itself.
Many online Honda dealers list the Honda part numbers. Below is Bernardi Honda Part site, where you can enter the car's VIN to also help look up for your car.
Look under ELECTRICAL/EXHAUST/HEATER/FUEL; then under METER COMPONENTS
Since you won't be buying a lot, it doesn't make since to order from an online Honda dealer due to shipping costs. The local Honda dealer should be able to also look up the part for you.
Get them from Honda! They're like $3 or so a bulb but they'll last forever. I mean my car is 11 years old now and only a couple have gone out. I have only had to replace the shifter light and ac **** light. That was last month.
