Hi guys I have a 00 civic DX and have a question about the door lock. I'm not sure if it comes like this factory or if a previous owner did this to the car but i want to know if there is anyway to remove it. Currently the only way I can lock my drivers side door is when the door is closed. This becomes very inconvenient when I'm holding things in my hands and want to lock the car door as i first have to shut the door, put something in my hands down, get the key to lock the door and pick my stuff back up. I would like to have it so that I an open the door, lock it from the inside, grab my stuff from in the car, push the door closed and just be able to walk away with it locked.

My buddy has a 1995 civic sedan ex. Its the same way. You cant even push down the manual lock inside of the door. You have to get out put the key in and then it locks all the doors. He likes it because its really hard to lock your key in the car. But I'm pretty sure that its like that from the factory. You might be able to take the door panel off and disable it.

 

Also I think you can override it if you open the door. Then pull the inside door handle and then push the manual door button down at the same time.

 

To lock the driver's door you can pull either the driver's outer or inner door handle, and push the lock tab down, then release the handle and close the door.
