So I just tried pulling the check engine codes off my accord using the paper clip trick and the CEL slowly went on and off constantly. As I seen in other demonstrations the CEL using blinks slowly a few times so you can get the 1st number then the CEL blinks faster and you count those blinks to get the 2nd digit. Anybody know what this means? Im considering just going to autozone to get them to scan it for me

 

Short blinks are single digit codes 1 through 9. A preceding long blink and then short blink(s) would indicate double digit codes (e.g., 10, 12, 13, 14, 15), followed by a pause for about 1 second.

Your car is OBD-I, autozone's code reader/scanner are generally for OBD-II.

 

So if im constantly just getting short blinks, I should check codes 1-9?

 

If they are short blinks only, then they are either codes 1 through 9. They will repeat; so, you want to re-check. If you are not sure of the code(s), then try to make a video of the blinking and post it for others to see.

 

im new to this page. How can I upload a video in this thread? But its like every 3 or 4 seconds the CEL blinks. Its constant. none are quicker than the other.

 

There are hosting sites like photobucket, imgur, youtube, etc. where you can upload videos. Then link them.
