Another one bites the dust
I am very sad to report that last Friday the 13th (yes) at about 3 PM my Type R was killed
A novice driver (who didn't see the bright yellow sports car coming the opposite direction on a sunny day) drove straight into me attempting to make a left turn.
I had a split second to brake and make an avoidance manoever to the left to avoid a direct hit. We both we going at least 30 mph though. It was a tremendous crash
The fact that my car had a welded in 6 point cage -- probably saved the passenger compartment of my car and lessened damage -- but front end/frame is mortally wounded.
I have owned my car since new ('00 #858) and used it for track purposes. I just happened to be driving it cause my DD was in the shop.
F*&k you novice driver and F(*k you Friday the 13th
I am heartbroken to say the least
Car is a write off. Frame is bent at the A pillar -- not fixable. I'll salvage it and part it out
I've been a member of this board for 15 years. Thanks for the memories H-T!

This just in: New more experienced insurance adjustor called me this afternoon and said they changed their mind and are going to fix my car after all and NOT writing it off after all. Estimated cost of repair is $18K.

Sorry for your loss Jonathon. Hopefully you'll be back in the game soon.
The past couple of years, I almost lost my ITR due to small fender benders due to the book value of our cars.

She's clean. Hopefully she's total'd out tho. I had an issue with mine that got into a minor fender bender. They estimated the repair at $3500, it ended up being $7500 when all was said and done and the car has not been the same since.

Looks like it was a Milano Red JDM front you had there before you painted it.
OEM Front FTW....
Still not feeling right about this..... :/

Truly a great loss for our community. Original owner to boot. You have educated and inspired me over the years Jonathan. "You should check out a track day!" he says to me back in 2004-ish when I was all about that rice. Boy did that spark a fire that will never die!
Onward and upward my friend

Noooo!!!
That is one of the most depressing pictures I've seen in a long time. I'm really sorry about your car. Let's be honest though, the only reason you're not buying another one is because you're going to be serving 25 to life for MURDERING that little bastard driving the Pontiac..

shi - who can't believe it's been well over 10 years since he last saw the doc
