Should I get a steering wheel cover right off the bat to protect it?
Brand new 2015 Civic EX owner here. I want to do what I can to prolong the life of every component in my Civic from everyday "wear and tear". In my previous car (chevy), my steering wheel seemed to suffer the most, with its factory wheel material falling off in crumbs thanks to humidity and hand oils.
Does anyone else think installing a wheel cover immediately is a good idea? Can a cover itself potentially damage the wheel underneath? Is this stupid, and should I just wait until the wheel gets worn out before putting a cover on it? What do you guys do?
Any suggestion for wheel covers?
Also, any other pieces of advice for similar "wear and tear" prevention are very welcome.

Don't drive like a bus driver. Shuffle the wheel instead. I can't stand the way steering wheel covers feel in my hands.
No one hand steering, use both hands to turn the wheel. This isn't the duct tape death match in Initial D, this is DD.

I would get one. this year I got a 2006 civic with 140k on it and the steering wheel was worn down. The car was only 8yr at the time still pretty new. So I need to change that this year and my door locks haha. Other then that the car has been great it now has 160k and runs mint.
