I have a 94 Si and I plan on buying a H23A3 from Hmotors online and since they're so close I'm gonna go pick it up. My current engine is a H23A1 and I was wondering if I could still pass smog with the H23A3? Thanks

I have no issues smogging my jdm h22 here in CA. The car originally had an h23 but I think the service tech I go to just doesn't look or care.

Leads me to a question- is there a protocol for engine swaps to be bar'd by the state of ca if that same engine code was used in a different trim of the same Model?

 

To answer the OP question though, yes. I assume a h23a3 is a jdm h23? Japan smog restrictions are tighter than the us to begin with, but u still need to swap over the sensors
