Skunk2 mega power, blown out in 6 months?
A little more than 1 year ago the cat on my 97 civic DX died. I decided to go with ebay piping and later added an 18" vibrant performance resonator and a Skunk2 mega power universal muffler. Mainly, because it was cheaper than getting a new cat.
This car is my DD so it has seen DD every day for the past 6 months. I typically stay within the 2-4k rpm range and will get on it harder when entering the express way but this is not a track car or raced on a regular basis.
I went with the Skunk2 after reading on this form that they produced a good sound, currently it sounds like a busted coffee can.
Anyone else experience this?
Is this normal for them to go bad in such a short time?
Could use a little first hand experience here.

When my cat went out I purchased another factory unit off of amazon which seems to be higher quality than my oem piece and was only $180 with manifold. When my muffler went out I purchased a walker direct fit replacement which Had great fit and finish and is absolutely silent
I can not comment on skunk2, but My recommendation is to return the car to stock and enjoy the silence and smooth ride that came factory on all Honda civic models
:cheers

Yep, no cat = clogged muffler from running very rich. Looked down the muffler and found a lot of carbon build-up.
Any way to clean it out? (I know, that's asking a lot)

Pull off the exhaust and run an acidic cleaner through it? Then soak the muffler overnight in the same solution, come morning rinse and let dry.
