hello my fellow techs. Just Picked up a 97 ek Hatch it is super clean with no rust which is what i was looking for. I will be setting it up for road racing, time attack, HPDE, AutoX, as well as Honda Challenge on the east coast.

The car came with a single in it which i will be racing with this season just to get seat time.

I am usually the photographer for @saucespot (@ratrodrobb) at all the events with the crew (project-one)(@thereal_projectone), I got the itch from all my buddies and just being at the track all the time. My buddy egvera89 on here helping me out a lot.

Thank you, they came with the car but i already bought sparco seat for myself so the driver seat will be coming out for now as well as the whole interior

Thanks a lot! Ya it should be a fun season with the single in there...just wanna go over everything on the motor and make sure its up to par oil leaks etc mounts.

 

alright so pretty big update i got most of my parts in and started to install them with the help of the team.

i took over egvera89's kosei K1's i love the wheel and they make the car look 10x better.
also i installed my NRG Short Hub, Quick Release, and deep dish wheel.
my sparco seat came in as well but i don't have a harness yet so i will not be installing the seat until i receive the harness....

all i need to get done before taking it to the track is new upper ball joints for camber kit, than comes the alignment and I'm ready for the track. here is some pics

i would NOT trust that steering wheel especially if you're tracking it IMO

I dont know if they've changed the last few years but their steering wheels used to be VERY flimsy...as if if you were to put both hands and clench tight...it was VERY easy to bend back and forth

Their QR and hubs aren't bad though

 

Thanks a lot for the insight!. i have played with it a little bit and it doesn't seem flimsy to me at all and feels pretty durable, I've put pressure on it and nothing. I will def keep an eye out for it though and hopefully they have changed since last time you messed with one. thanks again.

 

i did some stuff today on the car nothing to crazy. i changed my upper control arm sliding ball joints because the old ones that where in the car before i got it were SHOT. and while i was at it and had time decided to paint the calipers. tomorrow i will be installing my sparco seat along with the 4 point harness i received today to. i forgot to order the eye bolts or the seat would have been in tonight also.








the old one on the right did not even have a boot on it protecting it and no more grease inside. the threads where all stripped out so only thing holding the bolt on for the most part was the cotter pin -_-

4pt is no good. You'll want a 5pt or better.

Look up 4pt submarining. If you are intending on racing most 4pt belts aren't even legal aside from maybe autoX. Even if they have "anti submarine technology" built into them, still no good. I'd rather have a crushed crotch than a crushed chest.

Thanks for the heads up and i def looked into it..this season i am taking it light and i had already purchased the 4 point harness to use for my seat but for the following season i will def invest in a new 5 point harness for the bigger competitions if i do not do any this year.

 

The car has been driving great after i installed the new ball joints and had gotten the alignment done by Camber Toe Performance in Lynbrook NY, these guys really know what they are doing and always hook it up with the great price and availability. If you are local Def check them out!

-today i decided to do some work on the car and install my sparco seat and 4 point harness after i had to make some custom spacers for the sliders. I am beyond happy with how the seat is and lay out so far. The Sparco Pro2000ll is def a comfortable seat, its a really snug fitting seat. Enjoy the pics

Super Happy With the way everything turned out and this seat is beyond comfortable and i don't move an inch in the seat.

 

agreed. It's OK for cruising and hard parking. The ONLY steering wheels I trust for competitive use are: OMP, Sparco, Momo, Personal and Nardi. You should have went with a sparco wheel seeing as you went with a Sparco seat, IMHO Sparco is the best when it comes to competitive motorsports. But you should be ok with temporary use, but I would swap it out for a sparco later on.

 

Thanks for the response, and this season i am not going crazy with any events…mostly going to some open track days and just getting used to the tracks, the car and driving and getting pointers from buddies, but next winter i will def look into it more unless i come across one sooner or later.

 

ok so this past weekend i took the car out for the first time on the track. the whole day was a success. Thanks to my buddies Chris(egvera89) and Bryan who came with me and gave me some pointers while i went out there.

only ran into one issue. there was some water on the track so after a couple of laps i came off and chris noticed that there was some liquid on my right rear wheel. i was under the impression that it was just some water from the track. popped the hood and all the fluids were where they were supposed to be.

on the way home from the track i noticed my brake pedal kept slowly going down, this was def not normal. By the time i got home there was almost no brake fluid in the reservoir so right away i knew that was what was on my right rear wheel at the track.
