Does anyone know how oil gets into and out of the head to lubricate the cam? I have attached a jpeg of a head gasket and I'm trying to figure out which holes are for the oil. Thanks in advance. (1999 civic ex)

oil feed to the cylinder head comes through the center (between cylinder 2 & 3) on the back side (intake side) of the block. it sits just behind the center head bolt hole. in your picture of a head gasket, it's the egg-shaped hole.

Hondamark35. Are the two holes on either side of the egg shaped holes the oil returns?

 

yes, and also the two on the other side near each corner.
