Default Temperature guage problem

I have a 2005 Honda Civic LX when starting the car from cold the guage will not go up until after shutting car off and back on it will go up to temperature then it also runs the rpms high until shut off and back on if up to full operating temperature Any ideas?

nope, check the temp with an OBD2 thing and see if it's off, and check the wiring.

Check whether the coolant is low in the radiator and reservoir. If so, top off and then bleed the cooling system.

Had the same issue on my old civic after alternator blew up (it was overcharging and grilled some stuff in the computer...)

My symptoms : RPM was reving at 1500 and wasn't decreasing when engine was getting warm, temp. gauge wasn't moving until I shut the engine off and turn it back on again.

Sounds like you need a new computer...
