Icon2 2001 Honda Civic 4D Sedan EX 5-speed

I've always been a VW guy, but I have a chance to get 2001 Honda Civic 4D Sedan EX that is 5-speed with 83,000 miles. I believe it has the 4-Cyl, VTEC, 1.7 Liter. Is this a good model/engine and what should I look for? Thanks

It can be a good car. But, there are some things that can go wrong, if the maintenance of it hasn't been taken care of.

If it's an automatic, how it shifts.

Other then that, check for wear in the front lower control arm bushings, engine unable to warm up to the proper temperature and stay at a consistent temp., and check the engine mounts.
