1996 Honda Accord EX Horn Replacement
I was wondering if anyone here would know if I could switch the horns on a 1996 Honda Accord for the ones on a 2007-2010 Honda accord. I've had many incidents where people can't hear my meep meep horns and change lanes on top of me forcing me either into the other lane or into the grass. One man told me it could be plug and play and that's what I'm hoping for. Any help would be appreciated.
Yeah, I don't know for sure if it's plug and play but there is a good chance it is. (One would think there is little need to change the connector from model year to model year so I doubt they would) If that isn't the case, your looking at either using some crimp connectors or soldering to get the wiring from the car to the horns, making the circuit.
It is not plug and play, as the connectors are different.
A 96 has a 2 wire harness connector. The 96 (5th generation) has two wires; one to power and one to ground.
2003-2007 (7th generation) and 2008-2012 (8th generation) has a 1 wire connector. 7th and 8th generation Accord horn ground source is from the base of the unit, with one wire for power.
Horn part numbers between 7th and 8th generation are different.
You can still make it work though by splicing wires.
