04 05 acura el rear trunk & tails conversion
Hi Guys
I drive a 2001 honda civic 4DR I just got my hands on an 04 05 acura el rear tails and trunk lid. Now should I have any fitting issues or I will be ok? I know 01 03 acura el tails and trunk lid are slightly different than 04 05 el's. I know that for the inner tail lights that goes on the trunk lid are completely different than a civic so for that you have to have the trunk lid and that's why I got it ( I have not received it but in a day or so will be shipping out from Canada). Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated in regards to fitting. Thanks in advance.
Matt thanks for your reply kindly feel free to fill in for the fitment of the trunk lid on an 2001 civic with a 04 05 acura el trunk lid.

Hey Matt the regular 01 05 honda civic 4DR genuine wing will fit ok on 04 05 acura el trunk lid? Just wanted to make sure. Appreciate your help.
Thanks Matt you are the best!!!!!!I am currently waiting on my shippment from Canada I am right now short of driver's side quater mount tail. Once found the package is gonna ship will keep you posted.
Thanks
Thanks
Hey Matt got the trunk for 04 05 acura el and along with complete tail lights to my surprise since I drive 2001 honda civic nothing is bolt on and in order to do the rear tail conversion you have to not only swap 04 05 EL trunk lid but also the bumper as well. Now if you get the 01 03 EL trunk lid than you won't need the bumper swap. So right now I am in search for 04 05 acura el rear bumper cover once found will complete the conversion. So far no luck? I would appreciate if you know someone selling one. As I need it as soon as possible. But tell you one thing once the rear bumper was removed and lid was put on with tails it look really nice. Will keep you posted if I got the rear bumper.
I am almost ready to do the 04 05 Acura EL Canadian rear end conversion I got the trunk lid already painted professionally got brand new inner tails and the outer tail I thought that the outer tail light would fit with no problem but it is a big difference when the body shop guy checked my car he mentioned that in order to fit those tail light I have to have the tail light gutters to not only accommodate those tail (quarter panel mount) but also the bumper which I got brand new from Canada for 04 05 Acura EL, now I got the brand new tail light gutters for 04 05 Acura EL to properly do the conversion. So looks could be deceiving when you look it looks the same as 04 05 civic out tails but when you look closely there is a big difference. Once this conversion is complete I will be posting some pictures over here. Matt you could comment anytime you can. I would love any constructive feedback if any. Thanks

You will need to drill new holes for the outer tail lights. The outer tail lights require 3 holes to fit properly, you need to re-drill the lower 2. The top hole lines up perfectly though. You will also need to modify the civic signal bulb socket to fit into the outer tail light signal bulb hole, assuming you don't have the complete 04-05 EL wiring harness for the tail lights. The outer tail lights also require you to notch part of the chassis to fit. They are larger than the civic ones and do not sit properly without cutting out part of the body for them to sit flush. If you need any pictures, I can post them if you'd like.

Well guys my 2001 Honda civic is finally done with the 04 05 Acura EL rear end conversion and it came out to be really awesome I will be posting some pictures as over here in Chicago its snowing and is snowing really hard. But pictures will be coming pretty soon. Thanks
Hey Matt kindly check the photos of my 2001 honda civic with recent rear end swap to 04 05 Acura EL let me know what you think would greatly appreciate any feed back. One thing I mentioned over here the reason you see type R trim on my car is that is my fascination I love that trim I also had a type R K20 motor but never went with the swap because I wanted to keep it oem mechanically I believe that it was too much of a modification done to a car. But besides that it has a genuine HFP body kit oem from honda, HFP suspension for 04 05 honda civic EP3 which lower the car half an inch, HFP 16" alloy wheels original from honda, HFP chrome muffler, also rear disc brake with drill and slotted rotors from R1 Concept. Interior is complete from 2005 Acura EL. And recently complete rear end converted to 04 05 Acura EL everything was purchased brand new from Ontario Canada Acura Dealer. That includes trunk lid, complete Tail lights, Tail lights gutters and complete rear end wiring. Let me see what you think. Thanks
Sharp looking car. I'm not a huge fan of Type-R badging, but its not my car.
I do like the paint choice and the HFP accents. Its good all-around.

Thanks Matt greatly appreciate it I am like yourself big fan of original and genuine parts and accessories. It took me 9 years to what my car is today.
That is correct and when you have that much of effort, time and money into it is very hard to let that baby go. When I look at your car man there is so much stuff that you did to it and it does look great. I will be keeping any eye for the front end as well the main problem to get is the hood because of the size but rest I can get with no problem. So now what are your new plan for your baby??What you intend to do?
Well what ever you gonna do I am sure it will be best for you and your car, I would love to see what will you do this time and I know it is going to be mostly mechanical but still. Matt have you ever thought of the oem lips for your car man that will make your car stand out even more? I know that the front lip you will find it only in Canada due to EL front end but the rear one you can find in US. I wish I could see your car face to face that would be so nice but some day you never know.
When I did the front end swap, I did purchase the front lip. Its been on the car ever since. I don't have sideskirts or a rear lip for the simple fact that I didn't want OEM sideskirts, and a rear lip would cause more drag then anything.
Make sense since you use your civic on track. But with that raylle red color it will look very sharp. But I know you will do what is best for your car performance wise.
Wow its a dragstor but I am sure you know very well what you need its amazing is that your project that you intend to do? Also whenever if you feel like you can get an oem original rear lower lip than do let me know.
I'll be fabricating the sideskirts, if that's what you're asking. As for the car overall, its got a similar direction as to what I'm trying to accomplish with my own, albeit with several minor differences.

I still love it.
