Disable alarm going off when unlocking with key? (Civic 2001)
I have a Honda Civic LX 2001 and whenever I enable the alarm from the remote and then unlock the door with my key (since I sometimes forget), it sets the alarm off. I'm not in the habit of using the key fob and when I tried it became too much of a pain to remember each time. I really don't see the point in the alarm going off if I unlock the door with my key.
Also a problem I have is I sometimes accidentally enable/disable the alarm with the key fob if it's in my pocket or linked to my belt loop or whatever for whatever reason, which may unlock my door or enable the alarm while I'm inside unawares.
Is there some way to prevent the alarm from going off if I use my door key? It seems like the mechanical unlock should be the end-all be-all in case I lose the fob or it stops working, and I honestly don't know how to disable the alarm if that happens.

Unfortunately, your model Honda doesn't disarm with the driver's door key cylinder. Some other Honda models do.
For your Civic LX, if it is a Honda unit, it is a Honda accessory.
The unit can be set to auto-arm and give you a 20-second entry delay if you prefer that over using the remote.
Even you lost the remote or it stop working, etc.; turning the key in the ignition switch to the ON (II) position suppose to disarm the Honda accessory alarm.
The operating instructions for the Honda accessory alarm is at this link:
