2014 civic lx brake problems and rev issue.
Hi I am having issues my 2014 Honda civic lx cvt. One is that the front brakes seem to be wearing away. The plastic wheel cover is very dark and brake pad dust is all over my car. I only drive from school to home and occasionally other places. I don't brake hard. Is there a problem or just supposed to do that? Other problem is when I start the car, the car revs to 2,000 rpm while pressing the brakes at start-up. I am not new to Honda vehicles. Thank you
Why are you pressing the brakes when you start the car for? If it's in Park you should be moving. Try starting the car without touching the brakes and see what happens. Also where are you located? If the car is revving @ 2000 rpm what is the temperature outside?
As for the brakes well brake dust is normal and if you have a lot of brake dust it could be because you are braking a lot harder then usual. Have you done a brake job lately? What pads are you using?

Try this and let us know what you find.
I live in Raleigh, North Carolina. The weather here isn't too cold. I tried without pressing the brakes and 95% of the time, the rev limit goes to 2k rpm. I am parking on a hill but I don't know if that effects it. About my brakes, I brake veryyyyyyyy softly. I don't slam on my brakes.
Brake dust is something you won't be able to control really... it's normal unfortunately.
How long does it stay at 2k rpms before dropping?

After I start the car up it revs to 2k rpm then about 2-3 seconds later it drops but stays at 1,500 rpm for quiet a while. I will try to post a video if possible.

From the way you are describing the start-up issue, that is normal. As for the brakes, in 2013 - 2014 Honda started to use Carbon-based brake pads which is why you are seeing more dust then you normally would on previous models. Nothing to be concerned about.
