I have a d16a8 dohc obd1 that I want to put in my obd2a 98 honda civic. I wanted to know what Ecu I should use and I need to know what the thing next to my dizzy is and what kind of plug do I need for it?? It's right next to my dizzy it kinda looks like a Vtec sensor but it's not Vtec and the harness is missing off of it. It just has two wires coming out help please
Will a p2p manual Ecu or a p06 automatic Ecu work ?? I was told I need a p06 or p75 and I bought a p06 not knowing it was a auto one. But when I looked it up online it says you can modify the Ecu and make it into a manual Ecu. When I bought it the guy unplugged his Ecu and plugged the po6 in and his car sounded great. Just like the p75 he was running so I'm not sure
You can't find a P29 because they're obnoxiously rare, because the motor you're using is also obnoxiously rare. Your best second option would be to get a socketted P28, and get a chip with a P29 basemap on it. A P2P isn't going to work without some work (OBD2 ECU on OBD1 engine just doesn't place nice straight out of the box), and a P06 is for a completely different motor - I wouldn't trust it to run the motor properly or efficiently.
The ideal solution is a P29. Baring that, a socketed P28 chipped for the P29 would also work well.
So is a d16a8 a good motor and is it fast!?? And I haven't had time to take a picture of my motor because of my work schedule so here is a picture i got off line and zoomed in on. It's the thing right below the dizzy. And when I say below I mean down from the camera angle

I forget the specific name, TDC/position sensor (let's the ECU know where the cam is at basically). I believe there is a specific OBD1 DOHC ZC distributor that incorporates this sensor as a whole unit rather than separate like you have. You can always fab up a sub harness or splice as needed to use what you have if you can't find that specific distributor.
What does fab up mean?? And I don't want a new dizzy I just want to know how to connect those wires and where to connect them. Can someone post a picture with directions or something ?? Please and thank you

You can try searching for "OBD1 distributor pinout" to help you figure it out (it's 2 wires, not difficult).
I am sorry but I do not speak honda man I am not new to this but I don't know jack about wires and stuff like that. I need some more explanations. Or an exact link or something like that. If I get a dizzy that has that sensor than what do I do with the sensor that is there ?? I just leave the wires hanging ?? I have no idea what to do and the best help and advice I have had is from you guys
You could leave it or put a cam seal there if you opt to purchase the other distributor with the sensor incorporated. If you google pics of an OBD1 DOHC ZC you will notice it has a cam seal that has P30 stamped on it. I think that's off of pretty much any B-series engine.
As for your wires, did you try verifying that your stock harness distributor plug matches the link provided? How about the original wire colors off that sensor? Wire colors off of the distributor you have? See where I'm headed with these questions?
If you still have your original distributor you could de-pin the plug and use it on the ZC distributor and then put those two extra wires directly to it. That'll probably be the easiest/cleanest way of working with what you got.
