Ok so I just recieved my koni/gc set up finally (400f/350r). Its snow in now and its brick outside injustice trying to plan the install for now. I see people saying in a couple diy installs that the own dust cover doesn't fit. I talked to koni and they said to just widen the hole on the top of the dust boot to 12mm and it should fit. Would the rest of the dust cover fit fine after this such as the over the shock body?
I also see some people not running dust covers at all. I live in the northeast so I see lots of salt on the roads and snow during the winter. Shouls I even run the dust covers?
I don't see how they could be any different. The only thing different is the rod, which you confirmed that you will have to widen the cover to fit over.
Yes obviously the dust cover, that is just barely bigger than the shock cylinder, will crash into the Ground Control sleeve that rests on the outside of the shock cover. DUH! So no you cannot run dust covers. You can't expect Koni to give you sound advice about using Ground Control products in combination with their own.
Hey I know this is an old thread but I don’t know how to use this site I was wondering I just picked up some koni yellows and ground controls and it says in the instructions to cut the dust covers 1 1/2” from the top and use that but on rear Eg civic struts there are 2 dust covers 1 metal I think and 1 rubber does anybody here know if you use both ?
